(Part 3) – Road Trip To Las Vegas, NV – Jan 2017 – 5 Pound Burger and Las Vegas View

I missed a bunch of photo opportunities on this trip and because of that, we are skipping over Arizona and jumping into Las Vegas, Nevada now.

We arrived into Vegas a day earlier, so we grabbed a room at the Long Horn hotel and casino. We were immediately reminded that Marijuana was somewhat legalized for recreation use as we walked through a cloud of smoke in the hallway on our way to our room. Apparently, it’s still illegal to smoke publicly, however you can carry up to an ounce on you and can smoke in the privacy of your own home. It will probably be another year out before they refine things and start allowing recreation shops to open.

While at the Long Horn Casino, we decided to eat at their restaurant and Dylan tried to down one of their 5-pound burgers to get a certificate. As you can see in the (Before and after) pictures below, he demolished most of it.

The next day we spent 8 hours trying to check-in to the Excalibur. It seems that every year we go, there is always something that holds up our check-in time at that hotel. We may want to start looking into a different hotel for next year.

Below are pictures of the window view looking outside our room on the 23rd floor and a rooftop pic of the Excalibur from outside.

The rooms themselves aren’t really that great architecturally. It has the feel of a best western or motel 6, so I didn’t bother with interior pics this trip.
